How to Hide Your Flab in Five Minutes Flat

Hide Your Flab –

Friends!  I have been pasty white my entire life.  There were a few times that I was sunburned, but other than that, let’s just say that on more than one occasion people have referred to me as Snow White.  Tanning is just not my thing.  Exercise isn’t my thing either.

If you put two and two together, you’ll get the picture.  Underneath all of the clothes I show you on Instagram, I’m not only white, but saggy and flabby and full of cellulite, too.  Yuck!  These things never really bothered me much before.  I mean, if they did, I would have done something about them, like go to the beach and hire a personal trainer. I’m OCD like that.  For some reason, and I’m happy to say, my OCD has ignored my color and lack of muscle tone, and I’m happy about that.

Now that I’ve ventured back into the world of modeling, I’m more conscious of my paleness.  The auditions I go on are on-camera under lights.  Talk about looking even more pale!  I remember when I first started modeling back in the 80’s, an agent told me that I might be too scary for the casting directors with my white skin and red lips…the combination would be too harsh for the cameras.

When I think about it, that agent was right.  If you look at ads and pay attention to commercials, you rarely, if ever, see pasty white models. (Unless it’s a beauty ad, but those aren’t the jobs I’m auditioning for.)  So I finally took the plunge and got a spray tan.  I wanted to see what it would be like, and since I planned on wearing my white shorts on Easter Sunday, I thought it would be the perfect time.  I wanted people to be able to distinguish my shorts from my legs 🙂

In addition to not being tan and not being a person who exercises, another thing I am NOT is a swimwear model.  Pale and flab does not a swimsuit model make, especially in the Miami modeling market.

Wouldn’t you know it that as soon as I got the spray tan I was requested for an audition and the wardrobe call was to wear a bathing suit???  Not only that, but I had to bring a video of myself swimming so the client could see that I really can swim.  I have never, ever, ever, had the courage to model in a bathing suit.  When I was a runway model, we sometimes had to model bathing suits, but I always, always, always wore nude pantyhose to hide my jiggle down the catwalk.

Pantyhose weren’t going to cut it for this audition, though.  I was up for the part of the “mom” in a three-generation group of women holding hands and jumping into a lake.  (There was a grandmom, a mom, and a grown daughter.)

I really believe that at this point in my life I have nothing to lose.  So I went on the audition. Sans pantyhose, sans pale skin, and sans flab.  The spray tan worked wonders.  It evened out my skin tone so much that it erased the flab and the cellulite.

So the moral of the story is if you want to hide your flab in five minutes flat, get a spray tan.  It works!

And to show you how much I really don’t have anything to lose, I’m posting a selfie I took when I returned home from the audition. (I took this picture with the new Echo Look from Amazon, which is why it’s blurred around the edges. More on the Echo Look in another post.)

Oh, and I didn’t get the job.  I think I was too tan.
