The Sopranos: A Family Outing

I LOVE The Sopranos!!! I heard so much about it over the years but never watched it because we don’t have HBO. I was beyond thrilled when reruns started on Arts&Entertainment channel at the beginning of this year. All of the bad language, etc. is edited (which is almost the entire show! The language is brutal in the HBO version.) The show is brilliant on every level: the writing, the casting, the acting, the location, the dialogue, the clothes…It is the best show ever on TV.

Yesterday we did one of the weirdest but one of the coolest things that we have ever done together as a family. We went to the new Publix Greenwise Market (everything organic) where Lorraine Bracco, who plays the psychiatrist Dr. Melfi on the show, made a personal appearance to promote her line of wine.

I was so excited to get to meet her! I actually played an extra in a movie she filmed in Palm Beach in the late 198o’s, so I felt so cool being able to “name drop” a movie with her! (The movie is called “Traces of Red” and stars Jim Belushi.)

Needless to say, I was NOT disappointed in meeting her! She was the nicest, most normal person! She commented on Erica’s cute freckles and told me not to be too nervous when Adrienne starts to drive. She shook our hands, told us about some of the new projects she is working on (something for Lifetime!!!) and even posed for a nice photo!

Thumbs down to the new Publix (too small, too discombobulated) but THUMBS UP to Lorraine Bracco!!!!!
