I can remember a few summers ago when my girls wanted to watch reruns of this show. I didn’t know anything about it. All I saw was a program on the tv with a teenage girl who had a boyfriend. Could you blame me, in this day and age, for not allowing them to watch it?
Then somehow one afternoon it came on when all three of us were watching tv together. In the episode a mom and her daughter went on a road trip to Harvard because it was the girl’s dream to go to Harvard one day. WHAT?! WHAT KIND OF SHOW IS THIS??!! I have to say I was immediately hooked.
Fast-forward to today…we own all seven seasons on DVD. One summer we spent days and night and days on-end watching episode after episode. A few hurricanes ago when schools were closed for more than a week we did the same thing.
Last year the show went off the air. We bought the final season when it came out on DVD, but it pained me to even think of watching it. We all loved this show so much (even Neil) that we just couldn’t stand the thought that it was over.
Erica was home sick all week. Guess what we did? Yup. We even cried and cried and cried and sobbed and sobbed during the final two episodes. We just kept saying to each other, “It can’t be over!”
If you have never seen Gilmore Girls, rent the DVD’s from Netflix. Or, better yet, keep an eye out for the DVD’s in the coming weeks in the Target sales flyer. For the past few years they have had the seasons on sale for only $14.88. They usually start putting them on sale in early November.
You won’t regret it. How this show never won an Emmy award, I will never know. It is infinitely fantabulous.
Do you agree?
I would have to agree!!
I actually read this just after watching a Gilmore Girls rerun. We own all the seasons, too. I love it!
