Can You Stage an Intervention from Intervention?

What is a gal to do when her new addiction is a TV show about addiction? Have you seen “Intervention” on A&E? Here is a show synopsis directly from the website:

Intervention™ is a powerful and gripping television series in which people confront their darkest demons and seek a route to redemption. The Intervention Television series profiles people whose dependence on drugs and alcohol or other compulsive behavior has brought them to a point of personal crisis and estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Each Intervention episode ends with a surprise intervention that is staged by the family and friends of the alcohol or drug addict, and which is conducted by one of four Intervention specialists.

I accidentally stumbled upon the show a few months ago while I was playing around with our new cable. We upgraded so we could get “Lifetime Movie Network” and “Turner Classic Movies.” Anyway, when you click on the “Guide” button on the remote, one of the choices you are given is “Cable Favorites.” You then click on that and you can re-view various TV shows. “Intervention” is one of them. The words powerful and gripping describe it perfectly. I would also add the word raw.

“The Police are Coming! The Police are Coming!”

So Neil is driving Adrienne somewhere a couple of weeks ago. Adrienne calls me from the car and starts screaming in the phone “The police are coming! The police are coming!” Of course I panic and wonder what in the world Neil has done wrong. Did he finally get nailed for emailing while he was driving? WRONG! This is what she meant:

So, four tickets later, we are taking the kids to their first real concert, because (as I have been told) “Seeing the Osmond brothers at the Kravis Center in the middle of the day with a bunch of old people is NOT a concert!!!”

Chocolate Snob

I have been eating dark chocolate so much lately that now I can’t stand the taste of regular chocolate. The more bitter the taste, the more I like it. This is my new favorite. It is bitter and sweet at the same time, with just the right amount of filling. I don’t like a lot of filling. I scored an entire bag at Target 90% off after Valentine’s Day. Yea, life is pretty perfect right now.

Pain in the Back OR Further Evidence that It’s Not What You Know, But Who You Know

The left side of my back/hip has been hurting and stiff the past couple of weeks. Today, the pain became unbearable. It hurt to the point of tears. Luckily, our neighbor just happens to be a chiropractor. (I haven’t been to a chiropractor in twenty years.) One phone call to his wife, and voila!! He fit me right in to his schedule and worked his magic!! Unfortunately, I am in pretty bad shape. It still hurts like crazy. It will be a long haul until it is back to normal. I am just so thankful that I didn’t have to go searching through the phone book and/or calling everyone I know to find someone to help. Thanks, neighbor!!
