Martha, Martha, Martha!

Does she have to set EVERY trend? I had her show on today just as background noise while I finished rearranging my stamping office. I laughed out loud when I heard her say in her authorative “I know everything” voice: “You know, SALT is the new SUGAR.” What??? Well, if Martha said it, it must be true.
Next time you’re craving something sweet, have a potato chip and see if it has the same effect as a hot fudge sundae. Wait…now dunk the potato chip IN the hot fudge sundae and eat the salt WITH the sugar. Now that’s a trend. (Not really. I’ve been doing it my whole life!)

Smell Memories

We were sitting in sacrament meeting and Adrienne put her arm around me. I suddenly blurted out in a whisper “I smell Canal Street.” She then held her wrist up to my nose. She was wearing one of the perfumes I bought on Canal Street a few years ago. So now whenever I miss New York I can just grab her bottle of perfume and sniff away!
That got me to thinking…whenever I smell Finesse shampoo it immediately reminds me of my time (my very short time, I might add) at BYU.
Do any of you have any “smell memories”? Click on “comments” and let me know!

Gray Hair

It’s time for me to make a standing hair appointment with Kim. Why? Because now the gray is really going to show. Why? Because Adrienne started driving!!!!!!!!!!!!! It can’t be true! She was just born yesterday! But hey, after giving it some thought, gray hair isn’t all that bad. Don’t you agree???!!!!

My Dialogue with Donny’s Son

Comments Off on My Dialogue with Donny’s Son

I hope you can follow this:

Back in November I was Googling Donny’s name and I somehow stumbled upon the blog of his oldest son (also named Donny but who goes by the name “Don”). I immediately left him a comment on one of his posts. I told him I was the girl who followed him and his dad in the hotel lobby in NYC, babbling on and on about how it was my 20th wedding anniversary, etc. (A very LONG story which I will post about one day, I promise.)

I was flattered that “Don” actually approved my comment and posted it on his blog.

A couple of weeks ago I was Googling my own name (admit it…you do it, too!) and I was horrified to see that one of the links that came up on Google was for my comment on Don’s blog. It was horrifying because it showed my full name, my email address, and my city and state.

Last night I just happened to randomly check out Don’s blog again, and I laughed at the post he left. (The fan he is refering to in his post is not me, by the way. Another person left a comment for him apologizing that it was in fact she who not only found his blog, but saw fit to share the address with hundreds of people. You all know me…I would NEVER give out the blog address…Donny is MINE and ONLY MINE and I will never share him with anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Here is Don’s post that made me laugh:

Shameless Promotion
OK, so I never thought my blog would come to this. I figured it would be a place to publicly share some of my thoughts (hence the title, In My Opinion). Well, I was wrong…It would be folly for me to neglect the fact that my blog has experienced, at one time or another, the silent perusal of a fan. I do suppose that would account for the recent upsurge in Web traffic…
I don’t discredit it, but for this reason I choose to keep a majority of my private life at arms length from my blog. I hope that’s understandable, but I thank you for the continued support, and look forward to having continued traffic. So on with the big news… There are, as mentioned, those who like to keep tabs on my father. Well, it just so happens that I have recently been tasked with opening a new Facebook profile that will be all things Donny (I certainly hope this drastically decreases my Facebook inquiries.)What does this mean for me? …nothing really. Like I mentioned this is just one of those shameless promotional blog entries that some of you will be excited to hear, while others will roll your eyes at me.Anyway, on with “My Opinions…”

Okay, I’ll admit it! I am one of those “Donny” fans! I was wondering if you could please delete the comment I left you in response to your post titled “TGIF” on Friday, November 30th. I Googled my name and was horrified to see it come up along with my email address and city and state. I clicked on it and it led me to my comment on your blog. It’s my own fault for providing so much personal info in my comment.Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Two Editorial Notes…
Number 1 — Be dang certain about the information you are posting online. The electronic footprint will stand the test of time. Once it is out in cyberspace, you’re going to have a heck of a time getting rid of it. (p.s. To the one who may be concerned, I deleted it.)

My final response to him:

Thank you so much for the deletion.I just wanted you to be proud of your dad and the influence his example had on my life in my early years. If he ever gets down because he didn’t serve a “full-time mission” so to speak, he can use my story any time. And once again, I am so thankful I had the opportunity that night in NYC to personally thank him for my eternal family.(And thanks for the lesson about cyberspace!!)
