Fall Clipboard Home Decor

I wanted to create a nice home decor item that could extend beyond Halloween.

Making altered clipboards is so very addicting!

This project is very easy and you can even have your kids help you or make their own.

Use a plate stand to display so all can enjoy!

Halloween Book Report

I love that I have become the friendly neighborhood craft store.  At least once a week a neighbor calls or stops by in search of some cardstock, a punch, some ribbon…you name it!  The thing I love the most is helping the neighborhood kids with ideas for their school projects.

I love the challenge.

Samantha, a fourth-grader, had to come up with a scary house for a book report on a mystery book.  (Yes, she was allowed to have help!)

Here is what I came up with:

The windows open to reveal the different parts of the book report, i.e. the title, plot, summary, etc.

The bellies of the the ghost and the bat even open to reveal some info!

You can easily use this for a Halloween decoration in your home.

You can post clues behind the windows,

you can use it as a countdown to Halloween calendar,

a chore chart for October…

the possibilities are endless!!!!

Stuff…

If I weren’t so lazy, I would post pictures of:

1) Adrienne with her driver’s license in one hand and her very own car keys in the other hand.

2) Adrienne sleeping in her bassinet on the day we took her home from the hospital when she was three days old. I looked at her and had a breakdown, wondering what I had just done. I remember thinking that I had just opened myself up for the biggest heartache ever. One day should we be driving. One day she would be leaving me. One day she would be going off to college. One day she would be getting married.

From that day on I held her and hugged her every second of every day.

Two years and ten months later, along came Miss Erica. She had the cutest little forehead, all full of wrinkles. And a belly laugh that would stop you in your tracks. I remember looking at her when she was just a few days old and instinctively knowing that she would walk to the beat of a different drummer. She certainly does. Her sense of humor is like none that I have ever known. She looks at the world with her very own view. She’s got it all figured out.

I remember one funny story from when Erica was about three months old. It was freezing outside and our heater decided to break. All four of us put on our hats and mittens and slept in the bed together. Little RiRi was right next to me with her little cap on her head to keep her warm.

On the day we took Erica home from the hospital, Adrienne curled up in a little ball and laid down on the shelf underneath the bassinet. She would take Erica’s pacifier out of her mouth and hide it around the house. When Erica was old enough to sleep in her crib, Adrienne would sneak up to her and yell, “Fire! Fire! Wake up!”

I remember the winter when Erica was two. That was when my babies first started to really play together. They would wear these cute little vests that they called their “Mary Kate and Ashley” vests. (This was during the time when Mary Kate and Ashley were still innocent.) They would pull weeds in the back yard and pretend that they were gathering vegetables for the harvest to feed to the dinosaurs. Adrienne went through a dinosaur-loving phase. Of course their pretend friends were along for all of their adventures: Elian and Merica for Adrienne, and Erica and Erica (who lived in China) for Erica.

I wish I could remember where I heard/read that the love between a mother and her child is the only love that grows toward separation. Think about it. Makes sense. We raise our babies to one day watch them leave the nest.

Whew….I just had a mommy moment. And you know what? This has been my most favorite post of all.

Boo Clipboard Home Decor

This project is a blast from the past.  I made it two years ago, but I love to haul it out and use it every year as a Halloween decoration.

I used a three-clip clipboard, but any size clipboard will work.

You can make one for every holiday!  What a fun gift!
