Top Ten Reasons Why I Love “The Parent Trap” Both Old and New

1) I bought the video of the original movie at Costco on May 9, 1992. I watched it the next day, May 10, 1992, which was the day I found out I was pregnant with Adrienne. After six years of trying, I remember that day vividly.

2) I love Maureen O’Hara!

3) I love the camp they attend and the scene when it rains while they are confined to the cabin together for their punishment. That scene totally reminds me of summer rainstorms.

4) I love the new version and the fact that my girls love it. The new version is definitive of their childhood. They watched it over and over and over again. They have it memorized.

5) Every year on October 11th my girls say, “Today is the Parent Trap girls’ birthday.”

6) There actually was a time when Lindsay Lohan was sweet and innocent.
7) When Adrienne watched the new version she decided that she wants her first dance with her husband to be to the song “This Will Be An Everlasting Love.”

8) The 1998 soundtrack

9) For the first time I realized how cute Dennis Quaid is.

10)…I fell in love with Natasha Richardson… and now I am very sad.

I love that scene, too, but then that would have been “Top Eleven Things I Love.” When I got home from church tonight I read that Natasha died. I am so sad!
