It Took Me Awhile, But I Have Finally Been Edward-ized…

I was tired of being out of the loop, so I started book one on Monday while I was on the plane to NY, and now it’s Saturday night and I am on Chapter 4 of book three. I have never read so much in such a short amount of time. My eyes ache. I saw the movie today with Erica and Nancy…the book is WAY better, as usual!!!

Notice that I haven’t mentioned any titles? That’s because I’m sure you all know what books I’m talking about!

Six Degrees of Blog Friends (I Need to Vent, So Read at Your Own Risk!)

Have you ever played “Six Degrees of Blog Friends?” Maybe you have and you don’t even know it. It is the name I have given to the game we all play when we read a friend’s blog and then click on one of their friend’s blog and before we know it we are reading blogs of complete strangers!

“Six Degrees of Blog Friends” is what I call the phenomenon of what happens when while you are reading a stranger’s blog, you notice that you have a friend in common. Get it???? Yes, it has happened to me on more than one occasion. I was reading a friend of a friend’s blog and found one of my former Bishop’s wife’s blog.

It also happened to me a few weeks ago. I found one of my roommates from my first and only semester at BYU. I was so excited! I immediately left her a comment and sent her an email. Well….

My excitement soon led to major paranoia (on my part AND DEFINITELY on her part!) I received a confirmation that she read my email, but she never responded to it. I checked her blog again to see if she left a comment in response to the comment I left her. Well, not only did she not leave a comment, she deleted the blog post!

I checked her blog a couple more times and there were no new posts. I checked it again today, and now her blog is set to private! I guess she thought I might hop a plane from warm, sunny Florida and start stalking her in cold Idaho. How exciting can life in Idaho actually be, that you need to keep it private?

I told my friend Emily about this and the same type of thing happened to her. She often read the blog of a friend of a friend. One day she finally met the person and told her how much she enjoyed reading her blog. The next time Emily visited the blog, it was set to private! If you have ever met Emily you know she is one of the sweetest people in the world…not a big threat to become a cyber-bully.

I am not against private blogs. Several of my friends have private blogs and I totally respect their choice.

I just think it’s kind of funny in this situation…what did this girl think I was going to do to her??? I love when people give themselves so much importance!!!! (Like I am doing by assuming I am the only reason she set it to private! How conceited of me!) But really!!! RELAX!!! I just wanted to say “hi” to you, Jeri Kay, I didn’t plan on invading what I am sure is a very exciting life in the mountains of Idaho!!!! Stay warm this winter! I know I will!

I Just Don’t Get It

Last night we acquired an outdoor fire pit. The way in which we acquired the pit is a story unto itself that I will leave for another time. The important thing now is what we did once we finally got the pit home.

We went to Publix to buy the stuff to make S’mores. I have never had a S’more before. Now that we had a fire pit, making S’mores was the very first thing we needed to do, or so I have been brainwashed to believe.

Sorry, Mr. S’more, but I think you are WAY over-hyped! Am I supposed to like you just because everyone else raves about you? (They all rave about “Citizen Kane” too, and you know how I feel about THAT!)

The three tastes just didn’t blend together for me. You have the crunchy graham cracker, the mushy marshmallow, and the melted chocolate. I don’t get it. Maybe I needed ice cream with it?

Please leave me a comment and let me know what I am missing. Are there any tricks out there to make them taste better? Do you love them? I really want to like them, but unless I figure out what the big hoopla is, I don’t think I need to try them again.

Happy Birthday?????

      1 Comment on Happy Birthday?????

I don’t think so! What turned out as a fun-filled birthday weekend has turned into payback day for poor Erica today. She had her party on Friday night, so no time for homework. Her actual birthday was Saturday and I certainly wasn’t going to make her do homework on her 13th birthday. She wanted to go shopping! (Of course she did!) Saturday night we had a surprise 70th birthday dinner for my mom, (her birthday is on November 5th) so no time for homework then, either. So today she started her homework at 1:30pm. It is now 10:25pm and she just finished. No breaks, nothing, all day. Just about five minutes to eat a piece of leftover pizza and some chocolate cake. Leftovers from her party. Hooray.
