A Good Read

I haven’t read for enjoyment in a really long time…until I followed this link on Meghan’s blog. I started reading this girl’s fabulously-written postings about her heartbreaking divorce and before I knew it, three hours had passed!

The blog-o-sphere is full of happy families and their stories. When you read Alyssa’s story, you come to realize that sometimes things don’t work out the way we hope. I think her story should be a mandatory read for all young women.

I don’t know her personally. She is a friend of Meghan’s sister-in-law. She is now an attorney in NYC. Fascinating journey. Her story is listed in chronological order on her sidebar. So click here and get ready for a ride.

I’ve been busy making Erica’s birthday party invitations. She turns thirteen on November 1st. How lucky that Halloween is on a Friday this year! She and her friends will be trick-or-treating and then playing “America’s Next Top Model.” Adrienne and her friends will be the judges. Don’t ask. I am just along for the ride. I’m thankful that Neil will be in town. He is usually ALWAYS out-of-town for trick-or-treating. Makes it hard when I have to play mom and worry about safety and hand out the candy, too. Add a birthday party into that mix and I would totally be OCD-ing without him to help me!!!

I can’t even begin to explain how addictively delicious these are. I have made this brand of cinnamon streusel muffins before and I thought that nothing could be more delicious. Then I tried these. Whoa. And I finally figured out how to pronounce the brand name! Just think “Crust-Ease!” It looks like such a complicated and fancy name. But after you study it for awhile you realize how simply creative it is.

Me: “Hi, Rebecca? My Name is Charlene. Why Do I …

…have your name and phone number written in my day planner on October 11th?”

Rebecca: “I’m in charge of the debate at Benjamin High School on the 11th.”

And then it all came back to me!!! A girl named Rebecca called a couple of weeks ago and asked to speak with Adrienne. She wanted Adrienne to participate in a political debate at Benjamin on October 11th. Adrienne wasn’t home at the time, so instead of writing down the info on a piece of paper and giving it to Adrienne when she got home, I wrote down Rebecca’s name and phone number directly on my calender on the day of the event. So, once again, my hyper-organization has gotten me into trouble! Do you ever micro-organize your life so much that you forget where you put things or what those little notes you write to yourself mean? Yowzie.
