How Can I Use My Paper Purse?

UPDATE!  Here is the template again!  purse.pdf

After I made a few of the lovely paper purses that I blogged about on Monday and Tuesday, I gave them a good, long look and thought to myself, “Hmmm…what I can do with these?”

Well, let’s take a look.

I added some rhinestones and added more flowers to the red purse to give it a little bling.  I think it has an understated elegance now:

Adding rhinestones got me to thinking…I needed a new purse for a black-tie event that my husband and I were attending.  I used some Designer Series Paper that I had left-over from Halloween, added some rhinestones, and cut up an old belt for the handle:

This next purse is my absolute favorite!  It ranks second on my list of all-time favorite things I have made:

I like it so much that here it is from another angle:

…and one more…

You can use this design as a mailbox for Valentine’s Day cards, or fill it with candy like I did below:

Or, My All-Time Favorite…

You Can Use It As Pet-Carrier for a Sweet, Little Stuffed Animal!

As promised, here is the purse tutorial from Template Tuesday.

Step One: cut two of each pattern, and remember to score along the score lines  (Pattern:  purse.pdf)

Step Two: Punch holes in top and bottom of slits

Step Three: Cut out slits

Step Four:  Put Sticky Strip (Double-Sided Tape) on both sides of the handle bottoms

Step Five: Punch (or cut) ovals from the tops of the purse sides

Step Six: Don’t forget to score along the score lines

Step Seven: Attach the handles to the inside of one of the purse sides

Step Eight: Attach the remaining purse side to the handles

Step Nine: To close purse, bring together both purse sides

Step Ten:  Put one purse handle over the top of the purse sides

Step Eleven:  Put the remaining purse handle over the purse sides

That’s all!  I told you it was very, very easy!

I’m not finished with this purse yet…  come back Thursday to see more…   😉

Murphy’s Law has struck!  I have spent more than two hours trying to upload the tutorial for this adorable paper purse and everything that can go wrong has certainly gone wrong.  The pictures are blurry, the cropping I did is all wrong, and on and on and on.  So sorry!

It’s now way past midnight and I need to get some shut-eye.  I’ll re-take some photos and try again tomorrow.  (So now you already know that “What Will It Be Wednesday” will be the instructions on how to make this little gem ;))

In the meantime, make sure to download the PDF template by clicking on this link:  purse.pdf.  It really is very easy to make, so why not give it a try on your own?  Believe me, I’m sure you will have a lot more success than I have had!  I could have made fifty of these in the time I have wasted trying to post the tutorial!

 Supplies:

*2 sheets of Designer Series Paper (or any 12 x 12 double-sided decorative paper)

*Paper Cutter with scoring blade

*Oval Punch

*Sticky Strip (or any double-sided tape)

Not much going on…just working on projects for my papercrafting blog since I have to update it every day.  It is on the waiting list to get approved to be a part of Martha Stewart’s ad network.  Wish me luck, I guess.  I don’t really know what it means, but having Martha’s name attached to your work can only be a “good thing,” right?
