I’ve been enjoying saturating my food with salt.  Not just any salt.  I use the big chunky kind like they put on top of soft pretzels.

Adrienne was deferred by Columbia University.  That is HUGE news to us, since it means she wasn’t rejected.  She just has to wait a little bit longer to find out if she is accepted.

Erica still hasn’t taken the necessary steps to get her permit to drive.  I’m not rushing her.

Can’t wait for the new year and our house to be painted green.

Determined that life was so much easier when all Santa had to do was leave a few Barbie dolls.

Is no one sending out Christmas cards this year?  Usually by this time our door is covered in them.

I’m sure you’ve seen these chipboard scrapbooks in the dollar bins at different craft/department stores.  Buy them all!

Why?  Well, here’s a little peek at what you can make with the individual chipboard pieces:

Put a picture on it and hang it on the tree OR use it as a gift tag for that extra-special person in your life.

I’m addicted…oh no!

Click HERE for the template to make this fun fan ornament.  Scroll down for the tutorial.

You will need five of each of the pieces below:

Attach the outside cover to the cardboard with Mod Podge.

Be sure to Mod Podge the flaps, then adhere the inside cover piece.

Make 5 fan pieces.

Punch a hole on the narrow end of each piece.

Attach the fan pieces together with a piece of ribbon.

To attach the wide pieces of the fan together, you will need a long piece of ribbon and double-sided adhesive.

In order for the fan to open and close properly, place the pieces on top of each other in the order shown below.

Be sure to leave the ribbon loose in the areas where there is no adhesive.

Come back tomorrow for ideas on how to use this fan-tastic ornament!

My New Best Friend

I was beyond devastated by my visit to Cleveland Clinic.  Although my condition is benign, there is no drug that will make it better.  However, one thing I need to do is start smothering my food in salt.  (Hey, have you ever tried kosher salt on a warm cinnamon bun?  It is honestly very delicious!)

First Ride

The other night Neil and I were reminiscing about my first car that I bought (in New Jersey) when I was in high school.  (That car played an integral part in how Neil and I met each other, but that is a story for another blog post.)  The best part about our conversation was listening to Erica giggle.  She enjoyed hearing about the good ‘ole days from before she was born.

I was happy to find this photo online of the exact color, year, and model of my 1976 blue four-door Ford Maverick.  There is even a photo of the lines in the vinyl upholstery.  Those lines were one of the things that Neil and I remembered.

The car was $2,500.00.  I made payments of $50 every month from the job I had selling clothes at the mall.  One day (after we moved to Florida) I was driving home for lunch and a lady smashed into the entire passenger side.  The insurance company gave me a check for $2,500.00 for repairs.

Instead of having the car repaired, I drove around with a smashed-in passenger side for a year or more.  I used the money for college.

I ended up selling the car for $200.00.  And that is part one of the story of my Maverick.  Part two will be posted on another day!
